We have the opportunity to have community members go to York River Public School to share some of our cultures with the students. There is an honorarium available for the people that go to the school.
YRPS teacher, Sarah Vance, hopes to have some of our community members go into classes in primary (ages 5-9) and in junior (9-11) with teachers who are looking for cultural activities and we wondered if something like beading or medicine bags might be offered by Kijicho Manito. They are flexible on dates and times.
We are looking for storytellers/ readers, trappers, hunters, artists, artisans, athletes, singers, drummers, etc, etc.
Please contact me, a.s.a.p., if you are interested in promoting and sharing our Algonquin culture with the students between now and the end of June and then possibly into the next school year.
